Do you want Windows 10 to operate more quickly? We have assistance. If you follow these baker's suggestions, the computer will run more quickly and be less prone to device and efficiency issues.

Disable startup-running applications

Task Manager can also be accessed by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Esc, right-clicking the bottom right corner of your screen, selecting it, or by typing it into the Windows 10 search box and pressing Enter. If the Task Manager opens as a little app without tabs, click "More Details" at the bottom of your screen. The Task Manager will then show up in all of its full-tabbed splendor. Although there are many things you can do with it, we're only going to concentrate on terminating pointless startup applications.

Select the Startup tab. When Windows starts, a list of the services and applications that are running will be shown. Each program's name and publisher are listed along with information about whether it is set to run when Windows 10 starts up and its "Startup impact," or how much the operating system slows down when it does so.

If you want to prevent a program or service from starting up, simply right-click it and choose "Disable." This just prevents the program from starting up; after it has started, you can still run it. The software is not fully disabled. Also, you can simply return to this Task Manager section, right-click the application, and choose "Enable" if you decide later that you want it to run upon startup.

Power settings should be changed.

If you're utilizing Windows 10's Power Saver plan, your computer is being slowed down. In order to save resources, the plan reduces your PC's performance. (Most computers, even those on laptops, have a "Power saver" plan.) Changing your power plan from "Power saver" to "High performance" or "Balanced" can give you an immediate performance increase.

To do this, open the Control Panel application, then select Hardware and Sound > Power Options. Usually, there are two choices available: "Balanced (recommended)" and "Power saver." (Additional plans, including those promoted by the manufacturer, can be seen here based on the make and model.) Press the "Show additional plans" arrow down to show the "High performance" setup.

Change the power settings in the Control Panel to increase the speed of your PC (Click image to enlarge).

Simply select the option, then click "Exit Control Panel" to leave the Control Panel. While "High performance" offers you the greatest oomph, it also consumes the most power; "Balanced" strikes a delicate balance between power consumption and better performance; and "Power saver" makes every effort to extend your battery life. Users with desktop computers don't need to select "Power Saver."

Windows tips & tricks for shutting down

As you use your Windows 10 computer, Windows monitors what you're doing and provides advice on what you might want to do. These "tips" have, in my experience, only occasionally, if ever, been considered useful.

Windows will also drastically slow down your computer's performance by observing your actions and making recommendations. So, if you want your performance to increase, tell Windows to stop making suggestions. Simply click the Start button, select Settings from the menu, and then navigate to System > Notifications & actions to accomplish this. In the Messages section, scroll down and uncheck the item next to "Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows."

Windows should perform better if you turn off its recommendations for you (and you'll regain some of your privacy).

If you use just a handful of these tips, your Windows 10 computer will run faster and be less prone to dependability problems.
